FMP Portraits

Concept: Using a dementia care home I work in on weekends in the kitchen department, I’ve always wanted to base a project around the theatrical coloured environment I work in. Concentrating on the colour coded systems of the home and staff uniform I have explored the psychological effect it has on helping people live with dementia.

Through using Portraiture Photography, I wanted to achieve the idea of confronting my viewer in producing awkward visuals through the blended depth in colour between background and uniform. Final prints, A0 to add to the extra life sized scale of confrontational experience.

Layered Fog

Watched ‘Band of Brothers’ recently. The fog that set over the local forrest where land demolition had recently taken place reminded me of the ‘Siege Of Bastogne’ as if a battle had just passed through this part of the woods.

Second studio session

- Concept: Introducing colour contrasting to my photo shoot. Gathering research from a local dementia home I realised how important colour is to the home. The uniform being the main topic/colour, using the background to contrast against the uniform replicating the dementia home’s decore

- Development: Visit local dementia home again to pick up on colours that contrast in the home to use for my next photo shoots. Also start photographing other category of staff and using new colours in the studio.

First shoot in the studio for FMP

- Concept: Portraying dementia through the staff categories, uniform and primarily colour psychology.

Starting with the kitchen staff wearing a purple polo top.

- Development: Start introducing colour, i.e. colour contrasting backdrop to portray the colour battling that goes on in this local dementia care home.

Some film I got developed the other day from Summer!
